Abstract

In the process of developing his theory of meaning and truth, Davidson's argument known as the "Slingshot" plays different roles. We can identify three moments in which this argument comes into play: two of them involve an explicit formulation of the argument by Davidson, and a third moment that encompasses his latest writings on truth, in which the argument is mentioned to justify his conclusions. Therefore, it will be useful to consider these three moments separately. However, before doing so, it is worth making some clarifications about the Slingshot.
